Starring Macaulay Culkin as an eight-year-old troublemaker, he’s mistakenly left at home while his family goes to Paris on Christmas vacation.

While there, he must defend his suburban Chicago home from a home invasion by a pair of robbers.

The first film of the franchise was released in 1990, and while its reception was initially mixed, it became a classic in later years.

Home Alone grossed $476.7 million worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing live-action comedy until the release of The Hangover Part II more than two decades later in 2011.

A sequel to the movie, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, was released in 1992.

The follow-up sees Kevin McCallister as he is separated from his family on their holiday vacation to Florida, this time in New York City, where he has another encounter with the Wet Bandits after their escape from prison.

Though a standalone sequel with a new cast, Home Alone 3, was released in 1997, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York is the only sequel to feature the majority of the cast from the first film.

Because of this, a lot of fans have been hoping for a third film that actually features the characters they know and love from the original Home Alone.

In the spirit of the holidays, a fan-made trailer for a third film was created, and it has fans clamoring for the real thing.

The fake trailer, which features a grown-up Kevin McCallister and reportedly takes place 30 years after the events of Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.

The trailer shows the beloved troublemaker facing off with the Wet Bandits one last time.

In the opening scene of the trailer, an all-grown-up Culkin opens the door to his home and spots a little red bag on his doorstep.

As he bends down, Culkin opens the card to reveal a photo of his arch-nemeses Harry (Joe Pesci) and Marv (Daniel Stern).

On the card is the words: “We’re back little buddy.”

As he looks out at his neighborhood, Culkin spots the familiar “Oh-Kay Plumbing and Heating” van parked nearby, a surefire sign that havoc is about to ensue.

“This holiday season, it’s time to rediscover a classic. Kevin Mcallister is back – except this family is a little weird around Christmas,” a voiceover begins in the trailer.

The mashup proceeds to take viewers on a wild ride involving several booby traps, SWAT teams, and someone being lit on fire.

Unfortunately, the trailer is nothing but a well-crafted fake.

Many of the clips from the mash-up were lifted from various television shows, movies, and commercials.

Regardless of the trailer’s validity, some viewers are still hoping that it will be made into an actual film.

“Everyone would go to the theaters for this,” one fan commented on the trailer.

“I haven’t gone to the cinema in a long time, but if they make this parody into a real movie, I’ll grab my money and go to the cinema in an instant. I swear,” another wrote.

“I would LOVE to see them do a NEW Home Alone movie,” one viewer commented. “Our family watches Home Alone 1 & 2 every Christmas season.”

Another fan wrote: “Brilliant work! I LOVE it! This is the ‘Home Alone 3’ we SHOULD have gotten! With all these reboot sequels being released in recent years, hopefully this series will be revived!”

One fan even suggested that if the video kept gaining popularity, it might get a chance to become the real thing.

Less than two weeks old, the fake trailer has already garnered over two million views–so the demand is crystal clear.

Fresh off of Culkin receiving his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, what better way to celebrate his career than bringing it back to where it all started?
